Why do babies sleep so much?

I know this question is dumb, but when i want to play with baby cousin, she's always sleeping. I get annoyed!!!!!!

Because they grow so much!  Plus, being a baby is hard work:)

lol, sleep helps the body and brain grow..... they need sleep.... she must be young........ 6months+ she will be awake alot more, and tons once she hits 1yr

Life is pretty exhausting, you know! Not only do they have to do all that growing, but they need to sleep as time out. They need to dream to process all that stimulation. Before you know it, baby cousin will be toddler cousin and you'll be trying to keep her out of the cupboards and off the stairs. :)
