  1. Yes, its the food. Bats eat moths and mosquitoes which are active at night and they locate them without seeing them through sonar.  Its just the way they evolved. Owls did much the same thing. They can move about in daylight but the small animals they feed on are active at night to avoid hawks and other varmits with the concealment darkness offers; so the owl evolved to see at night and so nobodies safe. The darkness is full of creatures large and small that prefer the advantages darkness offers them.

Also in desert climites it is very hot in the day light hours of summer and bats rest in a cool place until sunset and then out they come into the cool darkness.

  2. They are nocturnal beasts and hunt by sonar.

For one thing prey can't detect them since they depend on sight and they can't avoid capture.

A bat could fly in daylight but it would be giving up it's main advantage.

  3. more insects are active at night (bats eat) which makes more small animals such as lizards and frogs active (bats also eat)

  4. because the ca only see ans sence better at night, Bats are a night animal.

  5. bats only appear at night time because they are nocturnal

  6. Bats are nocturnal animals.

  7. Too many people during the day.  The busses and trains are crowded.  Have you seen I-10 lately??

  8. they're not awake during the day, they're nocturnal

  9. Bats are nearly blind, so darkness is not a problem...however the real reason for their activity is their food supplies are active during darkness.

  10. Because the food they eat is out at night, and since they mostly rely on hearing to capture food..they do not need daylight to see.
