Why do battery's get hot...?

I picked up my tv controler and the batterys were burning through, they were realy hot. Why?

  1. You have a faulty battery and better change it as soon as possible as faulty battery can be harm full to you and so as your electronic product.


  2. Batteries don't get hot unless they're defective or have had a lot of current used out of them.  If your remote works, you have to assume it wasn't drawing excessive current.  This pretty much leaves a defective battery.  As the other answer says, you should replace it as soon as possible.  At least remove it from the remote to prevent damage to the remote.

  3. Maybe you left on something hot or kept doing something with it too long.
