  1. if they feel that they are in danger, they will sting you. They will normally leave you alone unless you distrub them. For example, if you touch their nest, they will sting you because they feel threatened


  2. They sting in defense of the hive or in self defense (real threat or not).

  4. They normally sting if they feel threatened. Killer bees on the other hand (not normally found in the states but normally in south America) will sting if you come too close to the hive and they will form in packs and sting of thousands of bees and that's how they kill you. the normal honeybee though won't kill you and stings when it feels threatened
