  1. Behavioral schools are designed to meet the needs of students with a particular set of disabilities. One of the recommended practices for that group of students is very clear-cut boundaries and consistent routines. Giving homework only occasionally does not work for this group of students. It's all the time or none of the time. Considering how far behind most of those students are, it's probably gonna hafta be all of the time.

  2. I can only speak for myself, but in my special ed. classroom I don't send homework home with the kids for two reasons: 1. Many are unorganized and I don't get it back and 2. I  give them time to complete the work in class so they can get the help they need from me.  We do a little bit less work than a regular education class in the long run because of this, but not a whole lot.

  3. In our area the schools that deal with behavioral issues are only in session for 3 hours a day, which makes it necessary for more work to be completed at home.
