Why do bi-polar people always have such high s*x drives?

has it been medically proven that a high s*x drive is a characteristic of bipolar disorder? if so, why is this?

One of my past girlfriends was bipolar.

Not sure why or even if it's a fair generalization, but she did have a very high s*x drive and wasn't afraid to try anything.

I know I did before I was medicated - but all the pills just killed it. :P Ugh.

They are promiscuous when they are manic. It is a symptom of mania.

Mania is characterized by abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood for at least one week, accompanied by at least 3 additional characteristic symptoms, including inflated self-esteem or grandiosity, decreased need for sleep, pressured speech, flight of ideas, distractibility, increased involvement in goal-directed activities or psychomotor agitation, and excessive involvement in pleasurable activities with a high potential for painful consequences.  

Their judgment is inhibited, so they don't make the best of choices. It's a symptom, so I suppose it's "medically proven". There is no definitive answer of why bipolar disorder happens, although high levels of norepinephrine have been observed while manic episodes are occurring.
