Why do big businesses not want to pay their workers the living wage?

Because, sadly, employees are just numbers and means for the corporation to make money... they do not care about people, only profit.

WalMart could raise prices 1 cent on every item they sell, and

could cover every employee with decent medical insurance coverage. But,of course, they won't. That penny would ruin

their image as the "low-price leader". In their corporate minds, anyway.
