  4. It's traditional for 3-cushion players to dress in a very formal manner.  The bow tie fits the tuxedo look and as was mentioned, is also not in danger of interfering with the shot.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  5. anytime you in a repectable sport they make you dress nice. bowtie is worn so that it isnt hanging on the table..some pool games are illegal for anything to touch the balls. so therefore a bowtie is used and out of the way

  6. If you saw players wearing bow ties and tuxedos on TV, you were probably watching a trick shot competition. Trick shot artists are all about showmanship, so they want to look good.
