I have a yellow-sided green cheek conure who will bob their head while standing still. I was just wondering if anyone knew why they do this?

  1. its a mating ritual. when people train parrots, they mistake it for dancing.

  2. its an instinct mating ritual

  3. I think it's part of their mating ritual.

My African Grey Bob does it when he wants to get my attention, although I think l should start worrying if it part of his mating ritual!

  4. My male cockatiel Murphy does this all the time. If he is sitting on your shoulder he might be trying to regurgitating his food to you. If you have just one bird he might see you as his mate. He could also just be doing this for attention especially if you go over to him when he is doing it.  I also found this interesting site about conures for you and it covers head bobbing.
