Why do black people like chicken so much?

Now before you start getting all defense and this and that, its f*cking true, ok. I have black friends that I hang out with daily, and its true, they like chicken more than white people. It never fails, if we go somewhere to eat, like chili's, applebees, TGI Friday's, it doesn't matter, they order chicken, EVERYTIME! Even if we go to a f*cking mexican resteraunt, it's chicken enchiladas. WTF!?!?!? I think black people have a special gene that makes them like chicken more than other races. PS, I have asked them why they always get chicken and they sarcastely say, "because I'm black". So that's of no use to me. Must be science, anyone know?

doode ppl pick chicken for many reasons, one can be they just love it, two its healthier than beef, ribs, and burgers and etc... and doode i love chicken too and thats all i eat with of course fish... but this is crazy talk... and maybe your friends only order chicken when eating out with friends because they eat other types of meat all the time at home...who knows... or ask you friends why?

I think chicken is addictive.  It is my favorite meat.  I think it was just the southern culture. If it were healthy I think I'd eat fried chicken everyday.  So, I noticed the more I stay away from it the less I crave it.

I often wondered the same thing when I was a waitress. It was just out of curiosity, nothing racially driven. I recently saw a documentary about America before the Civil Rights Movement, and it explained that back then, when black citizens could not access the same restaurants and food supplies as white people, chicken was an easy to obtain and easy to cook option. Perhaps this will shed some light on why many people still enjoy chicken to this day (besides the fact that it tastes good).

I am a BLACK male.  I am writing about your question, Why do black people like chicken so much?.  Most of time I think when WHITE people ask questions about BLACKS like this, I think they are being RACIST.  But I **(DON'T)** think your question about Why do black people like chicken so much , is RACIST...because as a BLACK man, their is (SOME) truth to it.   I have even mentioned this to some WHITE people, and joke about it with them.  YES, a lot of BLACK people do like Chicken.   Seriously, I think is a Cultural thing.   From down South, chicken and fired chicken is eaten a lot.   Just like ITALIANS eat a lot of PASTA and TOMATO sauce all the time...it is part of their culture.    I tell WHITE people, if you go to a Black picnic or barbecue, you will ALWAYS find some kind of chicken and Potato Salad.  And YES, **(sometimes)**  Watermelon.  Seriously, but NOT always Watermelon.   But seriously, Black people will pretty much ALWAYS have some kind of Chicken and Potato Salad at a Black barbecue.   And YES Black people (DO) each eat **(OTHER)** types of food too.

Well I'm not African American, and thats all I order, even at Mexican resturants. I just like chicken. I think it is a little rude to put a question like this up on YahooA. I think a lot of it has to do with their heritage.

Honestly, I don't think there's any real scientific evidence for black people being predisposed to "over-liking" chicken. Maybe they just like the taste. Maybe it's the fact that their families had chicken a lot for meals, and now they really like chicken.

It's like you liking pizza or whatever your food of choice happens to be. If you go somewhere that has pizza and you're feeling in the mood for pizza, you'll get the pizza. If it turns out that its really good pizza, you'll probably get the pizza again the next time, but maybe with a few different toppings, or a different type of crust.

I don't know why, so I can't answer your question, but I just for the first time went to Inglewood yesterday.  The street I exited had both a Popeye's chicken and Church's chicken on the corner.  (manchester)  Then as I drove down the street, I passed at least 15 other chicken restaurants, including KFC and another Church's, and many mom and pop places, all in the stretch of two miles.  I had never seen so many chicken restaurants on one street before in my life.
