First let me state that I'm black myself. Okay anyway I just need to know is an south thang, but when you tell some one that you don't eat pork they get all shock like "you don't eat pork"? "You don't eat bacon"? And when you say that if you do eat bacon is beef bacon, or turkey bacon. They find it so hard to believe that not every black person don't eat pork. And I'm saying that I mostly experience this with black people. Is is south thang or this across the broad.

  1. haha, I get what your saying.

Well, it's just part of the southern culture so it comes as a surprise.

It's like me, I come from a large mexican family & everyone eats beans, rice, totrtillas, & some kinda meat but, I'm a vegetarian!

So, when I go to a family get together they sorta tease me about it.

But, yeah it doesn't matter where your  from, they're always be stereotypes.

  2. Plenty of blacks dont' eat pork. I think this is an isolated incident.

  3. The same reason that white people acted shocked when someone doesn't eat mashed potatoes.

  4. Its a southern thing.  I'm black and southern and every southern black person i know (except a couple of Muslims) eat pork.  Its based mostly in tradition.  Back in the slavery days of the old south, when the white masters would cook and have left over pork fat and things from the pig that they did not eat, they gave them to the slaves.  White people from the south ate a lot of pork themselves because of the pig farming.  This tradition has continued with poor black people in the south because pork has always been cheaper than beef.  So even black people today from the south  that may be well-off and can afford beef, they still eat a lot of pork because they were raised to like it.

  5. I'm white and I eat pork. Just ignore them.

  6. Eat what you like,

Im white and I love pork, watermellon, fried chicken, pigs feet, gizzards, greens all the so called black foods

We are all mixed races so we need to get off of this whole race issue.

There is no such thing as a pure bred human.

Yea im from the south, maybe it's a southern thing and not a race thing.

  7. sounds like a south thang but, that is not me at all I'm from the south and I don"t think that way

  8. south indians have a believe that fork is lord vishnu. he came in fork headed to save the world. ( dasavatharm)

  9. Yes it was known as a black thing that black people, love their selves some pork. But now with the pork killing our people we need to go with the beef bacon, turkey bacon.

  10. I've met more black people who do not eat pork than ones who do, because of Health problems they face that are more common in the black community.

Actually I have never met a black person who eats pork, they might eat ribs on special occasions but tend to stay away from pork.

I have lived in the south, north and now west... so.. I mean I don't think this is a valid question, people in general don't eat pork because its not that good for you.

If your black why is your avatar white?

  11. Picture the reaction after this:

I don't eat meat at all!

Most people whatever race they are look at me strange. The conservatives especially give me an odd look. Its what I get for living in the south! Martina is silly because obviously we all have different likes and dislikes. I don't like many things and I assume that you do as well. Some people are not as accepting as other people.

  12. ok.

let me just tell you that those people are ignorant.

i am African American and i am a vegaterian.

    i don't eat ANY meat.

I am from Maryland and people always say to me, "What type of black person doesn't eat meat!!!" I just ignore them. Nothing they say or do is going to make me eat meat!!!!!

I also don't like watermelon so what does that make me?

  13. i think that must be a south thing, because i get opposite reactions. when i tell people i love pork they look at me all crazy and start giving me lessons on the dangers of eating pork. i'm from philly.

  14. I'm black also, and I don't eat pork nor beef and when I tell other black people that, I don't get a negative or shocked response, but they automatically assume that i'm Muslim, which i'm not. I just don't eat it because I don't like the taste and for other health reasons...

  15. I actually know a lot of black people who do not eat pork, and I know this is a stereotype but they look at me like I have two heads when I say I hate watermelon... I think it is disgusting

  16. I'm white and I don't eat pork. I like bacon, sausage, and pepperoni made with beef or chicken. Other white people think I'm weird. I'm also from the south (southeastern US).

  17. OMG..I know more blacks who don't eat pork than whites. I don't eat pork, either, and neither do my family members. I know more black Vegans, also.

  18. I'm black, I hate pork and I dislike watermelon, got a problem? No so stfu
