Why do board divers wipe themselves up and then they would dive again?

  1. When divers grab their legs in a dive, they want to hold on as tight as possible. When they are wet, their hands may slip when they go to grab their legs. By drying off they can create a more non-slip surface.

  3. For a dive, they need to hold themselves very tight.

    So drying yourself with these special towels they use (which are bery good at absorbing water) get them dry in no time.

    And the other reason being that they wouldn't want to slip off the board of course.

  4. when i was diving, my shammy served two purposes for me. it does help to get rid of any excess water so that you have a good grip on your tuck/pike but for me what i liked best is the fact that they get rid of the water on your skin which makes you cold while standing around waiting for your next dive
