  1. this is a stupid question mma is a completely different sport from boxing and don't give me the BS that MMA guys don't pad their records look at kimbo slice, who has he fought?? and yet they praise him as the next big thing in mma you guys are desperate and that s why you ask moronic questions like this, mma bouts don t even bring in close to 15 million in revenue and boxing has been doing that for years, every fighter needs experience, no mma guy will start off his career fighting rampage jackson or anderson silva, he would have to go through the ranks, the same applies in boxing, no fool can go from fighting on the streets and been a youtube brawler to becoming a top star the way kimbo is doing in mma, in boxing fighters take their sport seriously and only those that deserve the top spot get to fight in the elite ranks.

  2. MMA isn't even a sport...it's a collection of martial arts that fit together like a round peg in a square hole.  It's every bit as ridiculous as playing football on a baseball diamond with 2 basketball hoops at first and 3rd base.  MMA takes all the great forms of combat, and melts it down to 2 guys dry humping each other inside an 8 sided horse paddock.  Nice.

This question is a prime example of just how MMA fans have nothing between their ears.  Given the choice of fighting against competition for which you're ready, or getting thrown to the wolves by Dana White, everyone in their right mind would pick self determination, because it makes for a more lucrative career.  I prefer self-determination, but that's just me.

  3. Maybe because they want to perfect their craft? Maybe they want to be ready when they step up? If more MMA fighters took slow, baby steps like boxers when they turn pro, then maybe champions wouldn't get knocked out so often. Aside from belts that Anderson Silva and Quinton Jackson hold, titles in the UFC seem to get passed around like hot potatoes because everyone thinks they're ready to hold a belt when they're really not ready.

  4. To perfect their trade before going on and getting a title shot.  There's no sense rushing in someone with no experience to a championship fight where he would be crushed if he were not ready.  Not to mention that a novice does not deserve a championship fight without fighting to work his way up the rankings.  Additionally, you need to prove a winning record in order to build a fanbase.

As compared to MMA, boxing's ranks are much deeper.  There are so many more boxers in the world than MMA fighters, so it takes a lot longer to become a known quantity and be ready for and deserve a title shot.

I will admit, though, that it can be uninteresting to see prospects fight no-hopers.  I do not need to see Andre Berto blow out Miki Rodriguez in a fight that everyone knows he is going to win.  I would rather see competitive fights.

  5. Because in MMA you can have a 10-7 record and be a champ. Look at mayweather. he is 39-0 and that is what people look at is being in 39 fights and winning 39 fights. the second he loses he loses earning potential. In MMA records really don't matter. Look at Kimbo Slice. he is 3-0 and is on network television.  where as with boxing a lot of fighters need to tune thier skills bit by bit to a championship level. They may face some cans, but move up progressively as time goes on.

  6. boxing and mma is a business. undefeated fighters sell tickets as well as fighting style and personality and even good or scary looks sell seats. promoters aren't stupid I think they should create more over rated fighters to entertain us with. its great for the sport. we should always have a guy like tyson or kimbo to watch. btw.... kimbo slice is the tyson of mma. and as a matter of fact the first time tyson fought a decent fighter he lost. buster douglas would have beaten every guy tyson knocked out.

  7. because they can

  8. because you can't throw cats to the wolfs to get to the top it takes time you have to gain experience and recognition by beating good fighters and working your way up the ranks and as for mma fighters with an mma record of 3, 4or 5 mma fight records, fighting someone with 13, 14 mma records sounds crazy but these fighters are not inexperienced fighters they are the best in their styles and are representing their style against other styles its just some have been testing ther style against other styles for longer and there's always new fighters getting to the top of their game and when they do then they go to mma, ufc or something like that all mma fighters are the best at their game but its time to see who is the best of the best. As an ex pro boxer and qualified kickboxing instructor and a couple of years of win-Chung kung-fu experience i would have loved to pitted my skills against other multi talented fighters who have mastered a number of fighting arts these guys have great fighting pedigree don't dis these guys they have hundreds of ways to break you
