I was watching the Pacquiao vs Diaz match yesterday, and i was wondering why do boxers hold back their punches? A few times Pacman could've knocked him out earlier (let's say round 6 or 7) but he held back. Why? If it were me, I'd keep the punches coming, not caring WHERE they land! haha

  1. Fatigue is the reason. Throwing punches for three minutes is not as easy as it looks and just think these men have to possibly do it for twelve rounds. Also, keeping the punches coming, not caring where they land, is a good way of taking an unexpected counter punch that can put you into "dream-land".

  2. so u think u could throw punches for 12x 3 minutes rounds non stop. idiot

  3. they don't just hold back punches they are placing their punches in an intellegent way. this is a very advanced thing to do. beginer boxer don't focus so much on this but just need to punch.

  4. You really think the other boxer would LET you keep throwing punches without dodging and counter punching? Both boxers are waiting for one to punch so they can avoid/block and counter with a bigger punch or a combo.
