I didn't attend the wedding, because it's in another country.

  1. Because she spent a lot of money for you to attend.

  2. because they're having to pay for you to be at a spectacular party and to be fed which = dishing out tons on $$$ on their part

the least you could do is give them $20 to put towards towels and kind of equal things out

  3. I haven't known any brides that got upset the day of her wedding for someone not bringing a gift. But it is proper etiquette to bring a gift for the couple when you receive an invite.

  4. Weddings are expensive to run. Its rude if you don't get her a gift..

  5. Even if you didn't attend, if the bride and/or groom have attended one of your functions in the past and gifted you (on your own wedding, birthday parties for your kids, christmas, baby showers etc.) is in good etiquette to reprocicate in kind.

    Good luck

  6. Since you didn't attend, you're under no obligation to give a gift for her wedding.  You might choose to if you're close to the bride or groom, but a gift in this circumstance is voluntary.  If the bride is upset you didn't give a gift in this circumstance, she's being unreasonable.

  7. Only spoiled brats get upset if they don't get presents. BUT - only rude people get an invitation to a wedding and not send a gift, even if they are not attending. So, looks like you're BOTH people with no class. You don't give a wedding gift as payment for a meal. You give it to congratulate the couple and wish them the best. If you were invited, you must be a friend or relative so why wouldn't you want to send a little gift and a card of congratulations!! That shows some class! At same time, for anyone to be cranky over NOT getting a gift is being childish. (Maybe she or her family have been very generous to you in the past?!)

  8. Because, despite the fact that etiquette states that she shouldn't EXPECT a gift, she's starting a new life in a new home, and is hoping for a few of the things that will help her do that.

Traditionally, you send the gift ahead of time to hers or her parents' home.

  9. Mainly they do all this for the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
