Why do bubbles have colours (in preschool terms please)?

  1. Because the soap makes light change colours.

Just tell them the light shines on them and they make rainbows, like a prism.  If you can find a prism....show it to them so they can see the rainbows.  Show them how the colors always go in a pattern (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet).  Then they can draw pictures of rainbows, or you can tell them fairy tales about rainbows and pots of gold, etc.  You could probably make a whole day of preschool activities out of nothing but rainbows and colors in bubbles!  :)  Hope that helps!

  4. same as a rainbow,the curve of the bubble (sphere)and the soap bends the light shrinking the light rays down to the colors(spectrum)
