Why do budgies close their eyes and opens them ryt away??

Question

why do they do that??

second, how many times do they preen?? i always see them preening

third, what if they are breathing very fast? what should i do???

pls tell me what to do!

budiges may blink alot, this shouldnt be out of the ordinary, birds will always preen, it keeps there feathers in place and keeps them clean, sometimes they will preen over a twenty times a day for budiges hearts beat very fast, so if they simply climb up a cage it can make them breathe hard for awhile, goodluck and check out http://parrotcentral.net/parakeets.htm for good budige info

well they're probably sleeping but they open their eyes once in a while to make sure they r still safe...n budgies always preen that's how they keep clean
