  1. They are  'positively phototropic.' Moths, for example. Others, like cockroaches, are 'negatively phototropic' and run away from light. In the moth, it's a very simple setup; each eye connects to the wing on the opposite side, so light makes that wing beat faster, which cause it to turn as it does.
