  1.   Its all part of the set. It goes with the striped jersey and the little black mask. In the same way, when caught they invariably say; "All right guv, its a fair cop."


  2. Because they are so thick they cannot tell the rubbish bag from the .... bag so they have to write on it whats in it. Also helps the police find the booty.

  5. The word SWAG originates from London speak of the 18thC probably from Wapping - birth place of the most famous pirate of them all, Black Beard.  Thus SWAG is probably a London pirate word meaning the 'goods' as in stolen goods, treasure etc.

    The word is still to some extend in common use here in London today and refers to what a person might either own, wrapped up or what someone may have stolen - again, wrapped or hidden somewhere.

    The American word STASH = SWAG.

    The word SWAG has entered North American youth-slang to mean personal property and so forth.

    Here in London it would sound like, "so I left the swag at my mate's drum" [I left the stolen goods with a friend at his house/flat]
