  1. to listen for a horn or bell.a school bus once stalled on the tracks, couldnt see a train coming round the bend and lots of kids died.there was too mush noise for the driver to hear over it.

  2. It's the law.

  3. Probably a safety regulation, as it's a lot longer than an ordinary car and takes longer to get over the tracks.

  4. anything that carries people here in the us and it is more than 4or5 passengers will stop at crossings to prevent a accident

  5. The Bus driver ensures that there is no approaching train(Rail) to ensure the safety of passengers so he stops the bus at railway level crossings. In manned level crossings there are guards to stop vehicles when any train cross where as in unmanned level-crossings only signal lamps/warning dispalys are provided.

  6. For the Children's safety.

  7. Safety regulations. In fact all vehicles must stop at ungated level crossings and the driver must check there isn't a train coming.

  8. Federal and state laws mandate it.

  9. Liability
