  1. It is a race thing,up until not that long ago the only coloured people allowed on the course were caddies,no memberships were given to coloured people and even today there is only a very small number, when the open began being broadcast around the world they had to do a quick re-think as there was now coloured players playing in the open, and the winner becomes an honoury member of the club,if you were allowed to see a list of members to-day,apart from past winners like Vijah Sing and Tiger Woods there won`t be to many coloured members.

  4. Why do cops ware black or blue uniforms?  The caddies ware white overalls because that the caddy uniform.  Stupid question.

  6. That was the caddie uniform that the original membership chose so that they could easily identify caddies from players.  The tradition rolls on.

  7. As Tevia said in the play " Fiddler on the Roof" , " Tradition!! Tradition!!, Tradition!! ". The group of members who originally started the Masters  supplied the coveralls to their  caddies. This just carried on to the tournament. No food or drink can be taken onto the course  so the Club provides food for the spectators at nominal rates and a sandwich is traditional for the Masters. There is much tradition which makes the tournament unique.
