  1. they build what buyers want

  2. because in other countries its more....... like here its 110 i think england 130 etc

also its just that the engine needs to be strong to carry the load of the car so imagine putting a little engine it wont be able to manage heavier cars

im just guessing sorry if its total c**p lol

  3. Tell me - in which state is the speed limit 100??

  4. Because it would be impractical to limit the speed of every car and truck on the roads the the highest speed limit.

  5. Because you can use your car in places without speed limit, like tracks for example.

  6. First off to the last person... it is 100 KPH that is being stated, which is converted to about 62 MPH.

I have not heard of any government that requires a speed limiting device to be built into the design of cars by manufacturers. At least not the USA and definitely NOT Germany which has the hi-speed Autobahn!

Therefore, carmakers are pretty much free to make cars as powerful or weak as they desire.  There may be some limitations... but in most cases you can drive an extremely fast car legally (if you can afford it).

They know that the buying public desires cars that can go fast. Heck, even a new Hyundai Sonata was recently clocked at over 150 mph.

Speed and power are very attractive propositions to people with money or no money and the car makers know this and as long as it's allowed, they will continue making them.

It is up to you as a driver to obey the law.

Would you buy a car that had a speed limiting device if you didn't have to?

  7. well many states vary. but think about it. if company A sold cars that only went the speed limit and company B sold cars that went twice the speed limit. what would ppl buy?
