Why do carpoolers get their own lane on the interstate??

whats the point, and how would you know if people are actually carpooling?

  1. It's simply an incentive to encourage car-pooling and cut down on our foreign dependence on oil.

  3. Because if two or more people ride in the same car there will be less cars on the road and traffic will move faster. To provide a reward carpoolers get their own lane.

    It's not so much a carpool lane as it is having several people in one car. Cops will check the lanes sometimes and you get a hefty ticket if you are by yourself.

  4. The best reason is that there is more than one person in the car making it where there is less cars on the roads. Less cars on the road means the roads wear down less, less polution, less gas used so its less dependance on other countries. Basicly all around it is helping the country out so the country is helping them out back.
