  1. There are several, well argued reasons for why cats do this. None have won the debate exclusively. The most common, a sort of emotional bonding meant to replicate the bonding moment a kitten has with its mommy. They usually knead to pump milk from the breast when breast feeding and repeat the behavior when they are most comfortable. So take it as a good sign. Other reasons, they are marking by secreting marking scents similar to when the rub you with the sides of their face or body. I have also heard it is a innate behavior from when they cleared areas for sleeping or birthing in the wild. Either way, it is a good moment between you and kitty so please treasure it. When my kitty was young, I would get a thick blanket and place it on my lap so her claws would not hurt as much. Now, when I sit down and get that blanket (or one with similar texture) she comes running, sits down and goes at it! So maybe you can try that to help.

  2. Everyone has already answered this, but I just wanted to add - keep his claws trimmed and it won't hurt so much when he does it :)

  3. Actually, they "knead", like kneading dough.

They learn this action when they knead their mama's mammary glands to produce milk.  They begin to associate the action with feeling comforted and they continue this habit with their humans!  Mist of us consider to be a sign of affection and happiness in a cat.  : )

PS  About the claws!  I keep a special blanket near the couch and one on my bed so that I can put it between me and my kneading cat!  He has cone to associate the blankets as his kneading spot.

  4. Love and attention, cats use there claws to show affection.

You may not believe in but sometimes it is affection instead of aggression.

Like when you hold your cat they grip on to you to stay close :)

  5. He's only a baby yet, they never grow out of that kneading, do it often when happy. We always called it "mincy pincy"!

What is that answer that is nothing about the question doing?

    Advertising?

  6. Cats knead because, as kittens, this was the way to help the milk flow. They continue this behavior as a comforting habit, not because they expect to get milk from you/the carpet/the bed sheets.

  7. I got a new kitten and he constantly meowed for me, but its impossible to be with our cat 24/7. you just have to leave it alone. It will learn independence. It can get annoying, but your cat will stop if you leave it alone.

  8. I have a 15 week old kitten and I wanted to know the answer to this too. When they are tiny and still with their mothers, they need her to help her produce milk. If your kitten needs you, it is a sign of contentment, and also shows they look up to you as some kind of authority figure.

  9. it's also called "making biscuits" -- as a former poster said, they did it as a wee one to help get milk out of their mom. They do it to their humans as a show of affection when they want attention, etc.

  10. you mean "knead"

  11. I think you mean "kneads" and your kitten is showing affection and is bonding with you. The kitten probably thinks of you as his Mom. If you really want him to stop, gently push him off and say 'no' whenever he kneads you.

  12. They are actually 'marking' you as their property.

Their paws will release a kind of scent which then marks you which is why when the neighbour cat pads me, my own cats go all spikey and hissy when they try to do the same.

  13. your heart!

someone tell me to buy shoes from http://www.tradeshoes9.com He told me although in it the shoes are high quality copies,it feels wonderful and have little discrepency with the true branded shoes. i have visit it and have found the shoes i love,.but i do not know if it is really very well, can you give me a favour to check it?

  14. My girlfriend and I always joke that the cat is "making her bed".... because she'll always knead us before finally laying down.  So whenever our cat Sunshine is kneading one us, I tell her "make your bed!"  It's such a cute thing... I know it can seem bothersome if you're in the middle of sleeping, etc.... but they are definitely bonding with you and finding comfort with you.  Just pet them for a minute or two until they finally relax enough to finishing "making their bed" :)

  15. Yeah im like the kitten master lol. i take care of kittens til they find a good home to go to and like everbody has already said the kitten is kneading. Thats basically the cats way of says she likes you. believe me give it a way more weeks and that kitten will be so preoccupied with exploring she will have no time to knead you

  16. Becuase its a cat, and thats what they do. They become attached to you, and he probably looks up to you like you are his Mum, and leader. If the claw part is bothering you, I would suggust getting his front paws declawed, just the front ones.

  17. They are just bonding with you.  Imagine how I am just now, I have 2 four month old boys, who are determined to trip me up every moment they get.

  18. They're milk treading, when they got milk from their mommy, they would "kneed" around it to stimulate it and more milk would come out.

My cat does it all the time still and she's 9 years old XD lol

  19. because he's little and curious, your all he knows, what do you expect him to do? just sit there like a decoration or a stuffed animal? if you can't dedicate a lot of time to that little guy then you should have considered getting something lifeless, like a stuffed cat toy. please give him your time and attention since you have him
