  1. Natural instinct probably left over from being predators in competition with each other for prey. This can be trained out of them- dogs and cats raised together will get along fine, and dogs raised with cats are less aggressive to other cats. However, most dogs will chase anything that runs from them- its great fun!

  2. i have 2 dogs in my life and always had a cat. the 1st dog was a puppy i brought home with an adult cat that trained the dog that the cat was in charge - the dog and cat were inseparatable. the dog i have now i got from a shelter when she was guessed at 8 mths, between the dog being so happy to have a home and the entrenched 4 y/o cat, they play tag thru my home. 1 lap is the cat chasing the dog, next lap is the dog chasing the cat - AND it goes on and on. they give each other kisses and sleep together.

  3. In nature they are competitors for the same food resources, and will eat each other, and the young. Usually the dogs do the eating. But they adapt in unusual conditions. I have three dogs, two of which are over 15 years old, and a pup less than a year. I have three cats. Two 3 year old tom cats and a fixed girl cat about a year old.You would think I have a war zone but the truth is, I have the most enjoyable creatures in the world. The older dogs tolerate the pup, and kitten, and are retired guard animals. The pup and the kitten are best buddies. I have watched the pup tease the cat with a toy, and then they chase each other around the house. It all depends on how you introduce animals to each other, although some animals just have a nasty nature.

  4. thats not always the case, my dogs and cats get along very well.

  5. they dont get along because they wre not raised together..try it..get them both together when their still young and they will get along when they get bigger,...your welcome

  6. even though they're really domesticated, it probably goes back into their genes. probably something like that!

  7. they don't get along in the wild, but cats and dogs these days gets along really well since ppl raise them together as a pet. but some dogs and cats  can never seem to get along, but it's because they were not known each other when they were young so that's why they don't get a long sometimes.

  8. well, people only think that, but maybe its because when a dog smells a cat or a cat smells a dog 'to know each other, etc' they smell unpleasant, but it was told that egypt was ruled by cats, and the dogs had come from heaven to defeat them so the people of egypt may be saved from slavery.
