Why do cats get fleas?

My cat use to stay in the house but now he is a outside cat and he do not have fleas I was just asking.

  1. Fleas spend the bulk of their time OFF the pet, running around laying eggs and growing into new fleas.  

    Other things your cat likely is sharing with his family are ringworm (a nasty fungus), lice, mites, and other parasites.  Cats also get heartworm, which is fatal to them, Feline Leukemia, Feline Aids and a myriad of other virus'.

    Please reconsider the outdoor life.
