  1. Kittens do this at their mother's teat when they're nursing to stimulate milk flow. It remains a reflexive calming mechanism even into adulthood.


  2. This is their way to remind themselves how their childhood was like when they still relied on their mother's milk. By doing this it can actually relax themselves too. =)

  3. i always thaught of it being like how we poof up our pillows before we rest our head on them. to relax and breakup any possible stresses in the blanket. like when you fluff a pillow all the feathers separate and make it easier and definately alot more comfortable to rest your head on because it absorbs the preasures around the head. so this could applu to the cats body on the rug.

  4. they start kneading when feeding off their mothers as kittens , it seems to relax them even as adults
