DO you know what that means? My cat does it all the time and i'm not sure why? Can someone please tell me why? It's hard to explain, for those of you who dont know what that means. They push their paws into a blanket or pillow and start purring loud.

  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH thats sooooooooooooooooooo funny!! LOL who thought of that saying?!?!!? my cat does that all the time hahah its adorable...lol i cant stop laughing hahahahah i was thinking they do it cuz the blanky is soft good question star for you!

  2. When a kitten is taken away from momma at too young an age, the "kneeding" instinct just doesn't go away...I don't exactly know why it is, but it is..

  3. Well, I call it making bread and both my cats do it. It just means they are happy and content.

  4. Kittens use that kneading action to stimulate production of milk in the mother.  Some cats still do that when they are happy.  One of our furballs does it when someone scratches and pets her, for example.

  5. I've heard it called "making bread", "pressy paws", "kneading", and a few other things.  I've read that cats do that when they are feel loved and extra-cuddly.  It's their way of showing how comfy they are and how much they love you.  Cats have scent glands in their paws, so doing pressy paws is also a way of them marking their territory.

    So cute!

  6. I call it "paddling" and both my cats do it. It's instinctive behavior from when they were nursing kittens... they do it to help get momma's milk flowing.

Usually cats that are weaned too soon will do this a lot. Sometimes they'll drool too.

At any rate it's comforting to them... but if it bugs you just gently push the cat away - it's what the queen does when she's weaning them.

  7. This is a way a cat finds comfort.  It leads back to a time when they were a kitten nursing their mother.  If you have the opportunity to observe nursing kittens, they use their paws while enjoying the mother's milk.  This is comparable to some young children who suck their thumb.  It's just their way of reliving a happy, safe time.

  8. Lol my cat does this and we call it mothers milk! Its so cool I love it, its like shes having the time of her life! They do it because their mother cat has all of the milk and stuff lol and they do it because they want milk, its something soft and they love it! Ooooooo my cat does it like all day on my pillow and dressingowns its so funny! Hope I answered your question!
