Every night for the last week, 2;30 in the morning, never fails, I hear a pair of cats mating. The screaming is incredibly loud! Why do they scream so loud, and how do I stop them from doing their deed under my bedroom window???

  1. The female's getting raped???  They're horny little buggers themselves... :)

You could try putting aluminum foil under your window, or a carpet runner with the pokey side up.  They don't like to step on it.  Of course that might just make them move two feet away.  Your best option might be earplugs.

  2. Part of it is a 'love' serenade.  Toss some water, and let animal control try and trap them.  Just keep a glass a water nearby, and open the window and throw it out.  At that time, they are normally at hair trigger emotions, and water disrupts the whole thing and they flee.

As far as actual mating goes, the female controls the situation.  She can selectively fertilize her eggs, so if she has six kittens, they can be from six fathers.  And to do so is painful, and that may be the loud scream you hear, as the pain triggers a physiological process that results in one kitten.  So six kittens, six screams.

  3. The male cats p***s has small barbs in it, upon ejaculation the male cat extends these lil spikes into the females v****a. They believe its to help stimulate reproduction.

A lot of the "Screaming" is just an act. If you ever watch kittens as they begin to mature do it, the females will scream the same even without ever being entered. Part of it is from the pain, other part is show.

Interesting note: The male cats s***n is actually like a "drug" to the female cat. Causing euphoria.

Any strong odor should keep them away, find something you can tolerate but they can't.

Or like was suggested, dose em with water.

Unless you can prove they are strays, do not spay/nueter them. An owner can actually sue you for doing so. Even if its not a "breeder" cat and its just a mutt house cat ... they can still sue. If your city has a "pets must be sprayed/nuetered law" you might get away wtih it. But most places do not require this.

  4. THROW WATER OUT!

They are screeming because the female is being raped.

Trap the cats and have them spayed / neutered (there are free programs) that will stop the screeming!

AND YOU WILL BE DOING THE CAT POPULATION GOOD!

  5. Sounds like a cat fight to me. Are you sure they're mating? You could try keeping a glass of water by your window to throw on them. I've heard that they don't like them smell of really hot sauce, so you could dump some on the ground outside your window.

  6. Actually that was me.  Sorry.  I didn't know you were home.

  7. Male cats have microscopic barbs on their penises to stimulate ovulation. The barbs face backwards so withdrawal is very painful for the female.

Get hold of an animal shelter that can round them up for you. Bummer that you live in an area with so many unneutered cats.

    Chalice

  8. this will sound wierd that I know why but I just do. When the male enters the female, it's a smooth sailing, but when he tries to pull out, little spines are in the female, making pulling out hurt. So he hollars when pulling out.

  9. the male has a barbed shape p***s and it hurts the female when he withdraws- although some experts argue this is ecstacy...i wonder if you are quiet yourself when you 'mate' lol?!

    I would hose them down!

Otherwise you can try repellants and stuff but i dont think you can do much- move house?! Seriously if you have a lot of this there isnt much you can do! Roll on the winter season when they dont have heats

  10. have a bucket of water ready and when you hear them, splash it on them. If that doesn't work try shoes...

  11. squirt them with a squirt gun:) it helps

  12. i had the same problem at my house i live in the country and people would dump cats and they would get right up by my front door and start doing it and i would trap them in a live trap or hit them with a broom or dump water on them
