  3. It is just a myth.  Cows can lay down on the grass at anytime.  

  4. They will head for the most sheltered part of the field, under trees, next to the leeside of a wall or into a farm building.

  5. its a myth they stand up,would you sit on wet earth, if there are trees near they shelter or if they have purpose shelter they use that. our cattle would never stand up as its always raining in the uk around the pennies where i live

    They lie down after eating whilst they process the food through their four stomachs.

    Having said that If it rains every day coincidentally they would be probably lying down
