Why do cell phone plans cost so much?

whats the point. they all want like $30+ and usually it turns out to be $50 if you get texting and then they add a 12.55% tax!? i pay this much for my cable, internet and house phone bill!!! when will they get cheaper more affordable plans, because i honestly think that $30 for 300 minutes is not worth it, my dad was a sprint customer and got his lowered down to $20 and he gets 300 minutes, i seriously think this is bs.

Cell phone companies pay LOTS of money for everything like cellphone towers, electricity, rent, etc. so basically if they don't charge lots of money they lose money and big wig CEOs don't like that.
