  1. why do they ?

because they ill versed on the subject, possibly English, or just people that talk when they know what they are talking about.

Lennox Lewis was a good fighter but Not great Ali was great. there in lies the difference.

  2. lennox got beat as he was sort of showing off or slacking not respecting them who beat him maybe he never of worked hard leading up to the fight as they was not big names..i think he was a big fight man as seems he was at his best then....

you saw after they beat him he was not the same man who was sloppy when he got knocked out so he really never should of lost them fights but thats down on in the record books they dont lie...

Ali was a legend in and out of boxing tho he is not  the best in my eyes but in my top 20 i dont no what number lennox is not

but ali never was in with a man as big as lewis so i dont khow

who would win but lewis beat them that was there in his time thats not lewis problem what more can you do..

to be honest ive never heard it apart from the odd time that what happen its like football teams to you your teams the best.

  3. Lennox Lewis was great, making my top 10 heavyweights of all time. Too say Ali is out of his league? I don't know about that.

I would bet the farm on Ali over Lewis. Ali had a desire inside him that was so strong it is still unmatched today. I don't think there has been a person who believed more in them selves then Muhammad Ali did.

Lennox Lewis made his mark on heavyweight history, He beat every single man he ever faced in the ring, only one other heavyweight can say that and that's Marciano.

People say Lewis had a glass jaw, which is far from the truth, the punch Rachman hit him with would have ended any heavyweights night (excluding Ali).  And the McCall punch wa sa good punch as well from one of the hardest hitting heavies in the history of the sport. And Lewis did get up and was willing to fight, I think Lewis could have continued but maybe not.

He took huge shots from Frank Bruno and never went down, he took big hooks from Briggs and just grinned and punched back flooring Briggs. He took shots from Tyson, Mercer, Morrison and never got shook.

He did not avoid any fighter at any time, but Riddick Bowe and Mike Tyson both gave up their titles to avoid fighting Lewis. Don King even paid Lewis 2 million dollars to step aside and let Tyson fight Ruddock.

The way Lewis blasted out most of his competition, and with wins over Holyfield,Tyson,Bruno,Botha,Ruddock and Mercer along with a slue of other tough heavyweights, he has to get your respect. If he doesn't then you must just dislike him personally.

Could Lewis beat Ali? Mabey the 70's version of Ali, but could he beat a prime Ali? I dought it, Ali would find someway to overcome the reach, size and power advantage Lewis would hold over him.

My guess is Ali jabs and moves until Lewis tires and then goes in for the kill and stops Lewis late.

People say that Lewis beat a washed up Tyson, which is true, but they were the same age pretty much and also Tyson paid money to avoid fighting Lewis when he was in his prime.

Even after the fight Tyson said he could have never beaten Lennox Lewis. Lewis beat him up in the amateurs and in sparring.

But Muhammad Ali is my man, and I will never say any man could have beaten Ali, the mans heart was unmatched. In time there will be guys faster, and that move better and talk better trash, but there will never be another fighter to match Muhammad Ali's heart, pride and belief in himself.

Id like to knock Daywalkers head around for his distorted views on Ali. And Frazier was a 70's version of Kimbo Slice?

Man face it, The Russians suck, they always have and always will, right now the Europeans are lucky yo be fighting in a weak division with no real fighters, mostly just big tough men who left other sports because they thought maybe they could win a title because of how weak the heavyweight division is.  Ali is not great??? Yea and Klitchko is the best ever I bet right? That peaice of c**p heavyweight Wladimir is a disgrace to fighters that actually had heart. But in most cases that is why allot of Russian fighters don't amount to much is because they have always lacked heart.  (with the exception of very few)

Muhammad Ali is so great he trancends boxing, When you rank your top 10 heavyweights of all time, don't put Ali as number one, make him the champion and the rest fall in line underneath him. If Ali is not great then why does everyone compare every other fighter to Ali??

Muhammad Ali taunted, jived, insulted then knocked out George Foreman dealing Big George his first loss when people were worried Ali might be killed in the ring. He sent George into a deep depression. And years later George Foreman still wrote this about the man who inspired him.

  4. This is actually a very good question and well worth examinaing.  I rank Lewis high on the list because I tend to rate the champions in the "IN THE RING" category.  If you rank them in the "OVERALL" category,  taking into consideration the following, then there are others who would rank above Lennox.

In the OVERALL you must consider

    QUALITY of OPPOSITION

    ACCOMPLISHMENT

    HISTORICAL IMPACT

Lewis ranks fairly low in These categories.  His only distinction is that he's the Last Good Heavyweight Champion.  He has proven to be the best of his generation.  He beat Tyson, though Mike was well past his prime.  He beat Holyfield and was ducked by Bowe.  He and Tyson are the same age but Lewis aged better than Tyson and took better care of himself.

In the OVERALL category you have to place Lewis behind champions like Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Muhamad Ali, Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey and others.  He had the one mega fight against Tyson but that's about it.

IN THE RING, one would have to be blind to not see that Lennox Lewis would be a hand full for ANY heavyweight.   He is the only BIG man who can fight.  Bowe would have done better had he taken the sport seriously.  However, I can never give Bowe the credit I give to Lewis because he has shown that he's afraid of Lewis.

ALI fought and tortured Ernie Terrell but he was not near as strong as Lennox.  Lennox' caution might have cost him in a fight against ALI.  ANY boxing fan would have to see that Lennox, at his best, would clean up on some fighters who would give ALI trouble.

I maintain that ALI would NEVER have lost to the one dimentional Frazier had he never gone into exile.  He would be a step ahead of Frazier the entire fight.  ALI-71 didn't move much at all against Frazier.  Lennox would destroy Frazier in much the same manner that Forman did.  They could fight 10 times and Lennox would win 10 times.  Anyone who can't see that is just being biased.

Lennox would also handle Sonny Liston rather well.  He could get caught and KO'd but it's not very likely to happen.  Lennox, Like Larry Holmes, would beat nearly anyone ALI could beat but he would do it easier than ALI would do it.  Styles make fights.

By the same token,  ALI has the one style that would greatly trouble Lewis.  ALI would make Lewis move and extend himself.  No one else would be able to do this so easily.   ALI would keep Lewis off balance for most of the night.  ALI would do the same to HOLMES and Holmes would do likewise to Lewis.  Lewis would have a puncher's chance against Holmes.  Larry would likely rattle him with the jab early and take him out in the later rounds.  ALI could stop Lewis as well but it would certainly take him longer with greater effort that it would take Holmes.

    The TOP 5 Heavyweights are

    ALI

    Louis

    Holmes

    Lewis

    Forman

Lewis has a near 50% chance of beating Louis, simply because of size.  If any man who stands 6'1.5" and weighs about 205lbs.  could find a way to avoid being KO'd by Lennox,  and in return, land the BIG one, it's Joe Louis.  Louis doesn't move much so he would have to GET Lennox before Lennox GETs him.

Lennox also has about a 50% chance against George Forman.  Young George didn't fight very smartly.  Lennox was a much smarter fighter and would find the openings to get to BIG George.  Forman could also land the BIG one but it's more likely that Lennox would be able to avoid it long enough to land his own shots in the later part of the fight.

ALI and Holmes beats him convincingly.  Forman and Louis would struggle with Louis having a slightly better chance of beating him, due to his superior skills.   Minus the footwork, Louis is the best pure boxer in the business.

Lewis has his hands full with Prime Tyson and Holyfield.  Liston has a puncher's chance but Lewis is too skilled for him.  People make the mistake of comparing Lewis to Willard in believing that Dempsey has a chance to beat him.  Not even close.  Lennox is 100 times a better boxer and much stronger and more durable.  He's simply too much for Dempsey who is much too small.  If Marciano were a little bigger, naturally, he could win.  However, he's simply too small.

Lewis beats the rest fairly easily.

  5. Will you ever post anything that isnt trying to put Lennox Lewis down. It is pretty obvious he isnt in Alis class but then again didnt you try to compare Lewis to Bugner two weeks ago, who is next maybe Ruiz ???? or maybe Skelton ???? or even Sprott ????

  6. Lennox was a great fighter who. Its always going to be hard to compare boxers from different eras. Unfortunately Lennox has the Charisma of a t**d and was not particularly exciting to watch in or out the ring. Straight up boxing though he was very good. His caution and strategy made for some boring fights though.

  7. oh god i want to beat this Danny Boyz  *** i read your profile and your working on getting yourself kicked out of the US Navy let me tell you something your a disgrace to USN nobody listen to this dumbass Ali was a great fighter who the h**l are you to say he's not and if you like big punchers i will destroy you you fake American because i'm white thats what you say all the time   Danny Boy your a ******* idiot somebody give me a thumbs up who agrees with me well i know who will give me a thumbs down

  8. WHY what make a guy so special who got knocked down by this nobody named wepner or he could not in 15 rounds someone vagner whatever his name was or he lost from kimbo slice of 70's (frazier) mohamed ali is the most overrated thing next to coca cola he lucky russians could nto be professionals back then if got knocked down from wepner whatever his name is immagine what a klitscko of 70's would do to him man please with ur overrated ali!

  9. your a sperm receptiicle and the reason why they are both mentioned in the same breath also annoys me..lewis would knock the fukcer out inside 3 rounds,,thanks for agreeing

  10. Ali never fought Lewis so we'll never know what would have happened if they had fought.  But Ali did fight Ernie Terrell, who was Lewis' size, and Ali made him look like an amateur.  He fought Alejandro Lavorante, another tall and lanky guy, and knocked him out.  Ali fought two fighters who were regarded as unbeatable:  Sonny Liston and George Foreman.  He beat them both, decisively.

Ali had unequaled hand and foot speed.  He was not a huge puncher, but he made up for that with the volume of punches.  He was also very quick.  And he was one of the smartest, most adaptable fighters who ever stepped into a ring.

Lewis was at least a very good heavyweight champion.  He got knocked out by Rahman and McCall, but he destroyed them in the rematches.  He just didn't have the caliber of competition Ali did.

Ali was totally dominant in his prime.  Lewis was dominant in his time.  Both were great fighters. I have been following boxing for a looooooong time and Ali is the best heavyweight I have ever seen.  Prior to his 3-1/2 year layoff, he was (IMO) unbeatable.

A fighter doesn't need to be compared to Ali to be great.  Each fighter has to fight the opponents available to him.  Ali had some all-time greats to fight.  Lewis didn't.  Floyd Mayweather had both Cotto and Margarito, but he didn't fight either one, so his legacy is is question.  Ali's and Lewis' are not.  They were both the best of their eras.  It's too bad they fought in different eras, but that's boxing.

  11. pure boxing fans love boxers like muhummad ali, larry holmes, and lennox lewis simply because they are boxers and have defeated such fighters as sonny liston, george foreman, mike tyson, ron lyle, earnie shavers, ken norton, evander holyfield. etc.
