Why do certain people think that there is a Springfield in all 50 states?

I grew up in the 50th State, trust me - there are no towns, cities, villages or burbs named Springfield - anywhere in the State of Hawai'i.

Unless you've been on an acid trip all of your life.

give them this link, which list 783 places (including things like towns, schools, churches, etc) with Springfield as part of the name or location, but when I looked at the end of the list, it was unclear what the Springfield connections were--unless they were in a town of Springfield, but the list was not clear.

There are a lot of Springfields in the US, but looking up every single state to see if there's a Springfield is more than most people are willing to do.

A whole bunch of states have a Nashville. Do you want to do the research to find out exactly how many? Nah, me either.

Sometimes I do think that each Hawaiian island has a Wailea, though.
