Why do chef's wear those funky looking hats?

Funky hats look more cool looking than old, bored white hats.  white hats had for years. It time for us to change.same as uniforms too. and Cannot see any dirty on colorful hats.   White hats. We see chef with white hat and Dont want the chef to cook foods for us.  See splashy melted butter, BBQ sauce, Etc  ( messy Job)

because that is the hat for their profession and it is earned, if they did not have a hat on someone like you would probablly complain of a hair in their food and want a free dinner

The toque (chef's hat) is traditional and dates back to the 16th century.  Back then, you could usually tell a man's trade by the type hat he wore.  With chefs, the taller the hat, the higher the chef's rank.
