Watch the Food Network and you would think all chefs touch the food they're preparing without gloves. Is this true to life? And if so, am I the only one who thinks its gross?

  1. If you are worried about a chef touching your food, which they do wash and rinse their hands frequently, you would be really scared as to what happens behind closed doors at some resturants..

  2. i work in a kitchen, and the chefs dont use gloves because they wash and sanitize their hands all the time. i have worked in fast food too at a place called taco time, you have to use gloves ll the time there or you have to throw the food away and start over

  3. Do you cook at home?  Do you use gloves?  Using your hands is typical and true to life for a home cook (which is Food Networks target audience.)

In a food service setting, they should wear gloves.

Also, I do agree that it can be gross.... especially Paula Deen l*****g her fingers or l*****g the utensils.  Ewww!  Old lady spit!  lol

  4. They wash their hands before, and during, preparations with antibacterial washes....  Just how long do you think people have been using gloves for food preparation?  10 years ago NO ONE wore them....

  5. The Food Network is good,

and yes in some cases it is true to life but all chefs wash they hand all the time,

but most wear glove while working.

it fast-food place i worry about more

a guy got arrested from a KFC near my house because of something he was doing to the cosaw

  6. Well they  wash  their hands. I don't mined because the have been properly sanitized!!!

  7. At least where I work, we all wash our hands a billion times a day.  Any time we switch a duty like working with meat to working with veggies, we wash our hands.  If something falls on the floor and we pick it up, we wash.  The only time we were gloves is to work with raw meat or mix salads by hand.  I'm very proud of the people and place I work at.  So yes, it is a bit true to life, only TV chefs don't wash as much because it's for entertainment, not a training video.
