well obviously no school, but also  i guess since its the hottest time and you can go swimming, camping, etc And also the meaning of vacation is, A period of time devoted to pleasure, rest, or relaxation <- yea i copy pasted that. I mean really it was kinda a stupid question to ask lol

I've often wondered why summer would be vacation time and not fall or spring.  In the south being in school during summer and being out during spring would be ideal I think, but back in the day most of the people lived in the north and summers up there are nice.  Also, until some time in the 20th century, there was no AC for the students during the summer, but heat for students during the winter.  Then there's the whole farming thing some places.  And tourism is big some places.

Of course, the way most people are reading your question, vacation is the key part.  I think kids would enjoy winter vacation if that's what they got...ha.
