The Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:2: "Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers . . ." Revelation 22:14-15 includes dogs among the wicked to be kept out of heaven: "For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers

Deuteronomy 23:18: "Thou shalt not bring the hire of a w***e, or the price of a dog, into the house of the Lord thy God for any vow: for even both of these are abomination unto the Lord thy God."

"And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even" (Leviticus 11:27).

1 Corinthians 14:34, 35, : “’Let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn anything let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”

nd the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he [is] unclean to you.

Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they [are] unclean to you. (Leviticus 11:7-8)

And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it [is] unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

These ye shall eat of all that [are] in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat: (Deu 14:8-9)

Do not drink wine nor strong drink (Leviticus 10:9)

Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. (Proverbs 20:1)

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. (Proverbs 4:17)

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble [in] judgment. (Isaiah 28:7)

Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. (Joel 1:5)

  1. people who live in glass houses must not throw stones.

  2. What? Baby all religions are lame. Including yours. Deal with it!

  3. Try to remember that the Qur'an says the Torah and New Testament are corrupted.

Paul was not an apostle of Jesus, you should pay very little attention to what he wrote.  Christians however do pay attention, even taking his words over those of Jesus, as Jesus was not sexist and women did speak in his church.  Paul's books are part of the corruption of the Bible that is mentioned in the Qur'an.  I heard someone say once, the devil will tell 99 truths to get you to believe 1 lie.

The reference to dogs is metaphorical, it is not literal dogs, it is humans who behave as wild animals, ripping each other apart and so forth.  (I have noticed that Muslims tend to take things quite literally from the holy books and do not interpret metaphors.)

Christians are not the only ones who ignore much of what their holy books say.  Why is it, for example, that most Muslims I have encountered believe a man is allowed to marry up to four women?  The Qur'an says a man may have up to four wives if he can treat them all equally, but in a later passage in the same chapter it says it is impossible for a man to treat more than one wife equally no matter how hard he might try.  Therefore, the Qur'an is quite clear that a man may only have one wife.  So why do Muslims keep ignoring what the Qur'an actually says?

It is the self-centeredness and ego-trips of humans that cause people claiming to be followers of various faiths to actively violate the tenets of their faith.  It is not just Christians who are heavy among the hypocrites.

Again, remember the Qur'an says that Torah and New Testament are corrupted.  Pork is an inefficient livestock, it takes four kilos of grain to produce one kilo of pork, therefore consumption of pork promotes human starvation.  Pigs are not dirty animals and properly cured and cooked, they will not cause sickness to the eater.  But still humans are not to eat pork for the reason that it promotes starvation of other humans, that is what makes pork unclean to humans, for it is definitely an unclean thing to produce, use, sell, or buy a product that promotes starvation of other humans.

Many Christians do not drink alcohol, that is the true Christians anyway.

  4. Because their not as faithful as they would like you to believe.

  5. they have to pick and choos because the Bible is so contradictory.  The stories are meant more as lessons rahter than historical fact, and need to be applied to specific situations. but most people do not understand that.

  6. Christians still weaker to offer a strong argument, is that because they don't bother to read their Bible or because the Bible itself is corrupted?

@ the first answerer, behave yourself, or your 3 Gods will get upset with you,,

  7. I think you hurt my puppy's feelings.

  8. out of context = we don't want to do this one

    Hahahahahahahaha

  9. Because what they believe or choose to believe is whatever is beneficial to them at that time.  To be quite honest, they are really hypocritical.  Just sit back and watch how their answers change here on Y!A.

  10. Convenience.

And really, thank goodness they do pick and choose.  Otherwise they'd be stoning people to death right and left, and I'd never be able to get a pair of decent spandex/cotton blend jeans.  (Since I've turned 40, I appreciate that little bit of stretch).

Wait, maybe the bible just forbids the blending of linen and wool.  Can we get some Fundy clarification on this?

  11. Christianity was around for some 300 years before the Bible was compiled. It is a religion that was founded on traditional practices observed by the majority of congregations. The Bible was never intended to be a rule book for the Christian faith - it is a just a supplement. Nevertheless, most of the passages you quote are taken out of context.

  12. We only do it to annoy people who are so concerned about what we believe. Not very Christian of us is it?

  13. You do know that was referring to a HUMAN dog, not a canine.

  14. I for one speak about things that I know about, and the things that I don't know about I think it wise to wait for divine inspiration...

  15. Well I think that most of the verses you mentioned and that type of thinking that was done in the bible mostly occured in the "old testament". The Old Testament is more like a history lesson, if you will. Its the old way of doing things before Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins in the New Testament. In the Old Testament there was a lot of "take matters in to your own hands" situations. But in the New Testament, Jesus speaks of "turning the other cheek" and forgiving people who seek harm on you. So basically Christians follow the teachings of Christ, whom didnt appear till the New Testament. The Old Testament is just the history and the past. Another example I can use is that Slavery is evil and illegal in the US. But its still in the US History books. Slavery, even though it was a very dark time in US history, will always be a part of the history and therefore has to be talked about.

  16. Because like most religions they have lying leaders who mix everything up and like most people don't understand what they read.

  17. Lol, discord is funny.

If that's what the koran is for, then the bible is no different, because most christians walk around with no actual knowledge of the lessons, and spew only the quotes they've memorized.

As to the author of the question, dogs are just as good as any other animal, better than some (I don't see a cat defending your children from an intruder), cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, goats, they're all food for anything that can kill them. None are "unclean". It's ludicrous to think otherwise.

Alcohol, religion, and drugs make fools of us all... well, of most, anyway. I partake in none of the three, so I've had to find other ways to make a fool of myself. Less damaging ways, though.

  18. We all fall short from the glory of God. At lest we do not walk bombs around our body to the public places!

  19. Some do. And some do because they aren't taught what those verses are talking about. What is apparent in those verses is that God isn't interested in everybody. For there are 'swine', those who will never accept God, and He knows who they are. He isn't even calling them, and will not give them ability to come to Christ.

  20. hey just dont accuse christains even though they say stuff about us just ignore. and plzzz nina not all muslims walk bombs in places aight come on i mean these r the ppl that r having a war or something u should see it in jeruselum. ive lived there and seen it so dont be talkin. man the jews r the ones that r killin little kids walkin through the streets tryin to take our land.dont believe everything in history books.

  21. I have news for you, lady.

I'm a Christian but I don't eat pork or drink alcohol or smoke. I don't know for what reason Muslims are forbidden these things (although I know most Muslims drink and smoke) but the Bible tells me that our bodies are the "temple of the living God" (1 Cor. 3:16,17) and that is why we need to keep it pure. It's more than 'because it is written in the Bible or Quran'.

I don't know what you mean by dog. There is nothing wrong with having a dog as a pet. 'Dog' in the Bible refers to a wicked person.

Women not speaking in church is ok to a certain extent because once they start speaking they go on and on. But nothing wrong with women putting forward well thought-out ideas. And, remember, women's education is a recent thing.

  22. The Bible is not like the koran, it's for actually reading and understanding the lessons taught..Not just for memorizing and reciting without knowledge..

  23. shame will do many wondrous things.  only remembered in a translation that will be used when meed arises.

  24. I could take the Koran out of context as well, couldn't I?

  25. Why do you speak on something that you have no knowledge of,that's foolish.

  26. Well I believe your original question but your extra details blow everything in the Bible out of context completely.

Drinking wine is not a sin as per se. In fact Paul told Timothy who was feeling a bit queasy:

(1 Timothy 5:23) . . .Do not drink water any longer, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness. . .

(Ecclesiastes 9:7) . . .Go, eat your food with rejoicing and drink your wine with a good heart, because already the [true] God has found pleasure in your works.

    And is it not:

(Psalm 104:15) . . .And wine that makes the heart of mortal man rejoice, To make the face shine with oil, And bread that sustains the very heart of mortal man.

It is about moderation. A glass of your favorite tipple over a dinner with friends is a blessing.

A bottle of wine doesn't make you a drunkard as you picked and chose out of the Bible as there are two sides to this. A heavy drinker and a moderate drinker. The Bible compares them both.

Now go and handle the truth.

  27. "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness,  that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."-2 Tim 3:16

    Respectfully,

    Simone
