  1. They seem to get just as upset when I do the same thing with "God"

    emply hee-hee-haw-haw-haw

    See!

  2. They don't need to be there.

She is commonly referred to in that manner, meaning without quotation marks.

Another reason might be, there is more than one Mary listed in the Bible. the words Virgin Mary identifies which one.

  3. You say "virgin" Mary?

    I use the " " when I speak too.

    :]

    Hm.

If you know it does offend people, you should stop.

Unless you're intent is to offend?

  4. Because the quotations emply that she wasn't a virgin, and we believe she was.

  5. You are putting emphasis's on the "virgin".  Not on Mary.  I too would take offense.

  6. Because people get hyped over any little thing.

  7. I'm sure you know why.

Mary was a virgin with Jesus

  8. She was not a virgin forever.  She had other children, at least 6.  Yes Jesus had siblings.  After Jesus was born, she and her hubby, got a little busy.

Matthew 13 54-56:  And after coming into his home territory he began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astounded and said: “Where did this man get this wisdom and these powerful works?  Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?  And his sisters, are they not all with us? Where, then, did this man get all these things?

  9. I would assume you say "virgin" either because it is unconfirmed or to provide emphasis. I don't see anything wrong with that, and I am a Christian.

As far as I am concerned, Mary doesn't need to have had a virgin birth like the pagan messiah stories before her. I can believe in God and Jesus whether Mary was a virgin or not.

You have the right to express your opinion how you choose, and to believe or disbelieve what you choose. Anyone who wants to belittle you for that isn't being very Christian. They are not forced to read what you write. In fact, doesn't Answers even have some kind of block list? They may decide that you offend them with "virgin," but maybe they offend you by NOT doing it. This is a 2 sided street, so best to just respect each other.

I certainly don't think someone disagreeing with someone else should be taken as an afront to either person's faith. We all know that not all people agree on the details or existence of Mary. That isn't news to anyone.

  10. That is interesting....

  11. I dont find it offensive.

    I do find it obnoxious.

What is the point of doing it other than to undermind the concept at the very onset of whatever it is you are asking about?

You are just trying to set up a premise that the other person doesnt agree with as authority.  Its a manipulation of the discussion/question.

  12. Nothing is offensive, they need to get over that...she could not have been with child unless she had s*x or got some fluids down there.

  13. We don't get offended, we just pray for ya.

  14. 'Rolls eyes with the troll attempts'!.

Mary is a Virgin that conceived through the grace of God, Jesus came into this World for the Salvation of mankind. Do your quotation marks bother me, NO! and neither do you!.

  15. well she was not always a virgin. She did breed before God and had children. In the end like the rest she will be like the angels. She was just a woman graced with Gods child. I see nothing special about her. Or God has yet to show me. I bet if Joseph did not want Mary God would have to dump mary and follow Joseph. It was because of Joseph Mary had Jesus.

    The line of David.

  16. Why do you put them there? if it is to suggest that "virgin" is not a true statement or whatever, then is it really a mystery as to why it may offend some?

    I personally am not offended
