Why do clothes cost so much more in Canada than the United States?

the price disparity seems to have more to it than just cost of shipping, exchange rate and taxes....

  1. The US imports  most of its clothes  but probably  Canada does also so it is not the cost of manufacture and the exchange rate  should be an advantage for Canada. However using the exchange rate to compare, wages are much higher in Canada  for retail and wholesale workers  both because of the recent gain in the Canada dollar and because they do not have  such a large  low paid labor force of unskilled workers. You can always order from the US on the Internet , and take advantage of cheap American labor.


  2. probably because the canadiens make their own and the US gets it from really cheap labor from china and india.
