  1. people tend to worry about themselves more then they do for others. it'a animal instinct i guess you could say. sort of a survival of the fittest type thing. i think it's sad, but i can only make the smallest difference....which isn't enough.

  2. Well, say Toyota wants to build a new car factory.  They need cheap land, low wages and low taxes.  Different towns in different states are going to compete to offer them the best deal.  How could they cooperate on this?  There's only one factory.  If they all agree not to go below a certain price, the factory just goes somewhere else.

  3. Because individuals in communities have mistaken but deeply ingrained ideas about cooperation and competition. Most of us were raised to believe that if one person or family suceeds, then it means someone else somewhere must fail.

A community that is unable to cooperate to benefit the whole does not understand the principles of a win-win situation.

  4. Stupidity?

  5. Actually, you are wrong in your assumption.  Charitable organizations have  agreements with each other to support each other.  One agency may donate clothing to victims of a disaster or other emergency while another may contribute food, another agency may contribute labor t o rebuild, another may contribute furniture.  They work in collaboration with each other so there is not a duplication of service.  There are signed agreements

Each agency relies on the other to fulfill needs of the client.  There is a program called CAN.org, it is an agency that charities can tap into to see what benefits their clients have received to date.  This gives an overall picture of unmet needs and helps avoid duplication of services.

I hope this will help you see the overall picture
