  1. It's a business need.  If the biz needs to make cuts, it does not matter what time of year it is.  The alternative is to retain employees they cannot afford and jepardize the entire business.

    Don't listen to liberal garbage.  Businesses exist to make profit by providing goods and services.  It's a good system, that 's why Capitalist countries have the best quality of life for its citizens.

  3. Because for most companies it mean the end of their physical year and if profits are down then they have to make a move to solve that.

  4. Sometimes business is slow around the holidays. It could be the fiscal year end. All layoffs prove is how inept management is but who pays the price, of course it's the workers.

A company layoff during holidays is rare.  Rather the contrary companies usually hire extra help during the holidays.  Then at the end of the holidays, those extra employees are laid off which is a nice way to say they're fired.  Maybe the company you're interested in or worked for has some financial trouble.
