If they think your desperate they never hire you. In fact you have more chance to get hired when you don't need a job then when you do. So what is a desperate person supposed to do for income? It only makes people that more desperate. Is there any hope for a desperate job seeker? Yes I'm looking please hire me I am desperate.

  1. Well you answered your own question.  Stop acting like your desperate even though you are.  The people I interviewed that were desperate, and came across as desperate, or even begged me to hire them, there was more to the story than just being desperate.  If your interviewing look at  how you dress, your groomed, how you speak, what you say when you answer a question, do you have a poor work history, have you been fired from jobs in the past?  If your desperate and coming across that way there is a reason.  Reevaluate yourself, and calm down then start applying, don't act desperate, but confident.  Google interviewing site to help prepare you for interviews and make sure you have a good resume.  If you do that then you will sooner than later find a job.

  2. Coming from a background of 36 years as a Hiring Manager, I can tell you that desperate looking people are "high risk" employees. Most of them will do anything and steal anything to satisfy their desperation. The best people do their 6 P's - Proper Prior Preparation Produces Proper Performance.

Desperate people are bad choices "in general". Take the time to put a good resume together, screen it twice, share it with someone you trust to pick it apart, rehearse a mock interview and chill. Remember, desperate people are considered BAD RISKS by most companies.

  3. If you are that desperate, have you tried 'networking' all your past colleagues, past bosses, relatives or your local help agency? A prospective hirer usually count on those they may have reference to, like internal leads or a hiring agency. If your resume seems okay, they may then ask for an interview and that's where the real test is. You should never show that desperate emotion -or its gone case for sure. Good luck.

  4. Work through a temporary agency.  You can try out employers, and they can try out you.  Many, many companies use these agencies to get their new hires.

Don't give up.  Keep trying.  Be sure you look professional for whatever job you're applying for.  No perfumes or after shaves, no body piercings or wild hairdos, etc.  Look professional and appropriate for the job you're seeking.

You will find one, just keep looking.  We've all been desperate for a job, most of us more than once.
