Why do companies think that those screaming ads work?

you know the ones when their like RUG SALE GET DOWN HERE NOW BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH IM YELLING AT LIKE 110 DBS!!!!!!! dont they realise we just change channel or turn off the tv? do u think they work?

  1. They actually work. Surprisingly enough the same good old tricks still work most of the time both offline and online.

    It's funny that everybody think that people got smarter, at the same time, when you think about it...you too, knows those ads so the advertiser reached his target for one :)

  3. Well, what do you mean by "work"?

    The success of an ad is judged by the following criteria:

    1. Sales and other marketing statistical data

    2. Brand awareness, most cost effectively done through third-party brand studies

    3. Brand preference, done through periodic research among key audience

    That's it. It's the same for online ads (clickthrough is still a hotly debated issue). So if it annoys some people it's unfortunate... but what matters at the end are the results. It's a question of achieving results given a certain budget. The methods are immaterial.

  4. Perhaps they are taking getting your attention to the extreme... Not sure of how effective they are...
