  1. We don't disbelieve in Global Warming, global average temperature has gone up .5 degrees Fahrenheit in the last 50 years. We don't believe that it primarily mankind's fault, btw there's a whole lot of PhD's out there that don't buy into the AGW argument either. And what reasonable person believes half of what the Government tells them?

  2. in short... what people don't see in reality, they have no conception as it being true. if you don't witness polar ice melting caps first hand then why believe it?

It's not necessarily conservatives, just people in general. saying all conservatives have that view would be like saying all black people like to steal televisions.

Its an ongoing debate and until people are thrust into a position where they have no choice but to believe it... they will continue to deny it, like everything.

  3. For the same reason conservatives disbelieve evolution, heliocentricity, the round earth, and Hillary Clinton.

    Because Rush tells them to.

  4. It is a bold faced lie that we do not believe in global warming.

It is a bold faced lie that we do not believe in man made global warming.

There is some truth to the claim that we do not believe we can stop global warming by only stopping burning fossil fuels.

  5. I just love this, NASA has revised all the numbers that the Hockey stick graph and the AGW scam were based on to new ones that show global warming ended in 1940 and the faithful believers still hold to the old false numbers. I really love that they are now really deniers of truth and solidly documented facts!

  6. Conservatives oppose change typically - hence the name (look it up in the dictionary).  The US government is set up to change slowly and deliberately with lots of debate.  This provides stability, and a slow pace of change that makes things highly predictable.  This is good economically, but makes it difficult to respond quickly.  However, it may provide a better solution in the end.

I live in a very conservative state.  Our most progressive democrats are still conservative.  I don't think all conservatives deny this problem.  Certainly a lot of the elite and religious conservative leaders see AGW as an important problem.  I think a reasonable response that takes slow deliberate steps to stop AGW will be arrived at, although it is frustrating working it out.

Denialist are not conservatives.  They will not objectively evaluate scientific information and just want to deny a problem exist.  They will not accept simple facts undisputed by scientist or the laws of physics, choosing to make up garbage instead. I am not sure what they are.  Just think of them as the village idiots.  They just walk around unaware gibbering and making no sense, but think they are intelligent.  The are of no consequence. Pay them no mind! They are a small minority for a reason.  Most people aren't idiots.

  7. James wrote: "If world average temperatures are still below where they were in 1934-1940 why should we get exited about it."

If that were the case, then I'd agree with you.  But you are posting a complete falsehood that is easily disproved.  According to every global temperature dataset, it is absolutely warmer (by about 0.5 C) now than it was in 1934 - 1940.

All conservative do not disbelieve in global warming.  Such generalized statements are usually wrong.  While a notable greater percentage of self identified conservatives (as opposed to others) question global warming, there are many who accept it. Including Newt Gingrich, John McCain, and this group:

The reason for more doubt among conservatives (than others) lies in their belief in an unregulated (or minimally regulated) free market and their fear than any governmental response to global warming would hurt business and thus the economy. While I generally agree with letting free markets flourish with limited government interference, in the case of a global problem (e.g. diseases, global warming, etc.) governmental involvement is necessary.

  8. becuase it does not exist

we only contribute to less than 35% CO2 emissons on earth and the earth's temperature actually fell .7 degrees last year, 7 tenths of a degree. and our CO2 emissions are actually down from the 1980s. also we have warm years and you have cold years

  9. It is that we refuse to believe in something that no one so far has been able to prove with out a doubt exists. If world average temperatures are still below where they were in 1934-1940 why should we get exited about it. Perspective is everything to a liberal some one comes out and says this is the greatest idea of all time and other liberals will buy the item and brag about it to their friends kind of like the emperors new clothes.

Now the skeptic will say have you tested this item and is its service life guaranteed to be longer than competing products and what is my long term cost to own going to be. The AGW promoters have satisfied the liberal part of the equation, but the skeptics keep seeing the emperors new clothes, not something to be concerned about in any serious way!

Ken you are still using the old numbers that have in the last couple of years been proven incorrect. The data Mann/Hansen based their chart and the entire AGW theory on has since been proven to off to the high side by .5C. NASA is in the process currently of correcting the altered numbers back to what they should be.

  10. Because the government is run by technocrats who have a vested interest in validating the theory of global warming to justify effecting policy change. It's self-regulating and self-validating.

Global warming exists because the government says so by policy change

Global warming exists because the scientists say so.

    They're one in the same.

  11. The name itself gives an important clue. Conservatives strive to conserve the ideas of our founding fathers. One very important idea is individual liberty. Historically, the conservative platform has tried to accomplish this by advocating small government. I will confess, in recent years, they've failed dismally on this proposition. No doubt the government response to controlling so called climate change will give them greater control over the masses. Bottom line. Our liberties will be spent on the very shaky science of AGW.
