It never fails there is a fender bender of a moderate collision and the block 2 out of 3 lanes or more. We sit in traffic for hours.

  1. You ask a good question. The reason is simple though, it is for SAFETY. Many police officer's, work crew members, etc. get hurt when dealing with traffic stops, road work and accidents. Maybe you are a good driver, but there are a lot of people that are not. They are shaving, reading, putting makeup on etc. They hit police officers, etc because they aren't paying attention to their driving. If you had a close family member that was a police officer you would have known the answer to your question. Now days it is a very dangerous job. Better to have traffic going by slow than risk a life...Hope this answers your question...

  2. My guess is to make it easy for then to work in a safe environment. They could not care less if you're in a gridlock for 4 hours, as long as you don't take part of their foot in the process. They must have certain guidelines of what is standard procedure for them. That must be it.

I hate it too , but as they say, Rosanne Rosanna Danna, if it not one thing is another......

  3. It takes that many lanes for the group to be on donut breaks.

  4. Best answer I can think of is safety.Make a large safe zone<wait till every one gets there, hope no ambulance, investigators, capt,Traffic cop, safety cop w/ the cones, the extra cops to get extra advice,The cops with the cameras, measuring tape. The tow truck drivers. And last but not least,Cops don't get in hurry,go slow not to make a mistake.Saying If we stay here just two more minutes we get another hour of over time.Hows that?
