Why do corporations give applicants drug tests before they start working?

Would'nt it make more sense to do it after the first payday? As the junkies are probably broke and strung out until they get paid!!

Legally, employers can only test employees for certain reasons.  All applicants can legally be required to take a drug test.

Why would they want to hire you just to fire you? That cost to much money.

Butters you're gonna make a fine businessman. Yep the day after payday is the day to do the testing. Most companies would probably lose a lot of employees after training them if they did it that way though.

It's for their protection and yours.  They wouldn't want to hire an employee who uses drugs and could cause harm to himself/herself while on the job. The company would be suited and so would you.  They also test you randomly if they suspect anything while you are employed.
