  1. Provinces and states exist so we can be more specific where we live.

Where do you live? Canada. Oh, where in Canada?

See it just helps. As do our counties. I live in the Grenville part of Leeds & Grenville County (South Grenville if you want to be really specific).

  2. Most countries have divisions within them - provinces, states, counties, etc.  No big deal.  We are all Canadian, proud of our country and also proud of our diverse heritages.

  3. Maybe you should post this under a political section? That way you can get a correct answer from people who actually know. Im guessing that provinces/states exsist to make the population easier to govern?

there should be something on the Internet too. Check Wikipedia.

  4. The logistics of running a country demand that you have some decision making locally to take care of the specific needs of the locals.  When Canada was formed, this was even more obvious with great distances between provinces and little transportation and communication technology.  The matters to be dealt with locally became law an are now part of our Canadian constitution.  Cities have some of those powers too, not just provinces.

Also, YES - each province has it's own history.  They joined Canada at different times, under different circumstances.  You have to respect that history and therefore realize that is part of why we are Canadian.

  5. you are right, each province has it own demographic and pride, but we are all canadian...and proud to be so.
