But it is these small changes that eventually add up to a big change. A little change here, a little change there over time becomes a whole new species. I'm sure a deer-like creature has a biological requirement to become a whale. If it did it would probably be hunted before it could establish itself or be outcompeted by the whales and dolfins already out-there. The point of Macroevolution is that it is Microevolution on a grander species crossing scale.

  1. I suggest you read some of the works of Dr John Polkinghorne KBE

(Quantum Theory and Chaos Theory expert) and then resubmit your question with more accurate assertions.

  2. They would rather defend God with dishonest rhetoric than admit that the Bible might be allegory.  The absolute defense of doctrine is cult mentality.

  3. Your question is meaningless. Tell us what you mean by 'Theory' and how creationists misuse the term! I assume you know the difference between 'creationism and 'creation science'. All the Abrahamic faiths sign up to creationism, but 'creation science' is a rather extreme variant of creationism. Read Anglican Article One. It outlines what Christians have historically meant when using the term creationism. Don't be fooled into thinking you must have a certain fundamentalist model of creation to be a Christian. The Christian faith rests on Christology, not on any one specific or extreme creation model.

  4. Sadly, I think there are many who do not truly understand the difference between a scientific theory and a wild guess.  In addition, many do not understand what evolution is before they "don't believe" it.  Is is willful blindness or poor education?

  5. In school, most people just memorized what was needed to pass the test, and promptly forgot the information afterwards. So, lay people don't remember the difference.

Religion isn't trying to convert the intellectuals; they're a minority of society. They're out to recruit the laypeople, and if using the wrong terminology works, then that's what they're going to do. They find it better to have a large number of devotees recruited and held in place because of their intellectual vices instead of a small flock gathered by appealing to the virtues they hold.

  6. Because they prefer to pretend that it's been misapplied in the case of [insert here the science with which they do not agree].

  7. because anyone who doesn't think like you is uneducated...and anyone who thinks like you is educated...i want to "observe" evolution...that is part of the theory right...observation...i want to see a deer like animal change into a whale...small changes, like adaptations, don't equate to transformation into a whole new animal...i've never seen a tomato plant change into a fruit tree either...but according to evolution all that is possible and even probable...but we can't see it but we just add millions of years...

  8. I wonder this about a lot of lines of argumentation on Y!A.  My addiction falters a lot sooner than it is used to because people are still giving ignorant arguments both from theists and atheists alike.   I enjoy when someone brings something that has yet to be refuted or a new idea or way of looking at things.  Unfortunately this seems to be more and more rare as time progresses and the population of R&S increases.

  9. Willful ignorance + Cognitive dissonance.
