Question:

Why do credit card companies sometimes stop certain features on ur cards, like balance transfers?

I'm in great standing with all of my credit cards, so you'd think that they'd keep my features there, unless they were just introductory features, etc, but my discover card just stopped their balance transfer option on the card, which caught me by surprise.

When credit card companies do that is that because you're doing something wrong, or perhaps it was just promotional, or is there something else going on?

I'm not sure how bad/good this looks on my part.

  1. Since your credit is good just drop discover and get another company

  2. If you play with snakes.   sooner or later you will get bit.

  3. I'm not sure what you are calling balance transfers. But my Discover card keeps sending me those convenience checks to use for balance transfers or whatever.

If you call Discover, they will be more than happy to help you transfer a balance from another credit card.  However, you may not get that low interest rate from the last promotion.  You'll get charge the normal cash advance rate which is higher.

By the way, being extended a line of credit IS a privilege.  Terms, limits, and special offers are based on your credit worthiness.
