Question:

Why do dentists RIP YOU OFF????

Everytime I go to the dentist, they tell me something is wrong & that my insurance doesn't cover it. I have switched dentists because of this, and the new dentist doesn't mention ANYTHING that the old dentist did. Did my problems magically go away? I feel so cheated by this industry.

Anyone know any honest dentists in the San Diego, CA area? lol

  1. Because dentists are rat b******s.  I also live in the San Diego area.  I decided to go to a dentist closer to my home..  so I go in and they tell me that I've got 18 cavities that need to be filled AND I need a root canal.  That's a load of BS.  You'd think my mouth would be sensitive if it were THAT rotted.  I have a beautiful smile and take good care of my teeth.  Plus, they kept using the word "decay" even though I told them to replace it with the word "freckles" or something.  That dentist was a r****d.  AND he wanted $24,000 worth of dental work to do on me.  s***w that.

So, I asked for printouts of all their charts and copies of my x-rays.  I paid for it, so they have to give it to me.  I then drove the 88 miles to my old dentist in Newport Beach.  He took some more x-rays and told me that the other dentist was a swindling r****d.  I agreed.  He told me that I DID have one tooth that needed a root canal, but the others just needed a quick patch and they weren't even cavities yet.  He said they WOULD be cavities eventually, but that's because I'm getting older.  $3,500 later, I've got my million dollar smile back.  No "decay."  $3,500 is a dang sight better than $24,000!!!!!

So, really, what you need to do is collect your chart from that other punk dentist and take it in to another one and tell them what's up.  I suggest an older guy.

I totally empathize with your situation, even though I can't give you a recommendation.

  2. You need to get references.  Ask your insurance company about dentists.  Ask your friends that work with you and have the same coverage.  I would check them out with the State Board that investigates bad dental practices if you feel you have been "ripped off".  If nobody discusses them with the certification board what's to stop them from continue giving poor care?

  3. Maybe you should get a new insurance?

How is it at all the dentist's fault you got a crappy insurance?  Honestly, the first dentist was probably the best dentist.  The new one probably just isn't telling you your insurance isn't covering something.

  4. they likely tell you something is wrong because it is.  As for your insurance don't go by that because insurance doesn't cover alot of what you need, yet you gladly pay for it off your paycheck without realising it even if you don't use it, yet god forbid having to spend money to get things done
